Courses and Harp Classes

Initial

Classes in Eglisau, January 2012 until July 2012

Katholische Pfarreizentrum,Salomen Landweg Str. 1

8193 Eglisau

Classes in Irish harp will continue with  Catherine  Rhatigan on the dates and times listed below. You can have a private lesson, or learn in groups of two or three.

If you would like to book a lesson, have a look at the schedule below and contact her with a time that would suit you.  Times allocated on a first come first served basis.

The Pfarreizentrum has lots of parking and is approx 7 minutes walk from HUNTWANGEN-WIL train station, (not Eglisau), on a level road where you can easily wheel your harp. It is served by two trains per hour from Zurich/Bulach/ Schffausen.

If you are interested, please get in touch with Catherine through the contact page of the site, where you can discuss a lesson plan and the costs, and you are also welcome to come for a trial 60 minute lesson for free.

ON AVERAGE a 60 minute private lesson costs 60 CHF,  and less than this if you reserve a block of lessons. Classes with two or more students also cost less, but it is important that students are more or less the one level.

These classes are designed to teach Celtic, and in particular the music of Ireland, in the ancient aural tradition, learning by ear. Students can have the sheet music, or a recording at the end of the session. It's always useful in these days of memory overload!!

Below are the available private class times from January until July, a total of six hours per month, on Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings  once a month.  As the times book, they will be removed from the timetable.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to drop a mail.

Catherine RhatiganCatherine Rhatigan has been teaching for more than 20 years and has a strong repertoire of authentic tunes from which to choose in her classroom; something that is often appreciated by students seeking to vary and widen their repertoire. She has given workshops in Ireland, Europe and the US. Her strong piano playing background influences her fluent arrangements and accompaniments. She is particularly interested in the older music of Ireland, and has written several stage pieces for musical theatre, including one on the history of the harp in Ireland.
